Reverse Trick or Treat in Medford

What do Candy and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) have in common this Halloween (Sunday)?  Both will be given out during trick or treating in Medford, but with a twist.

While residents will be giving out candy to the kids of all ages that come in costume, a group of environmentally minded Medford residents be reversing the custom and distributing CFLs to home owners.

In addition to the energy efficient light bulbs, volunteers will also be distributing information on saving energy and appropriate disposal of the CFLs and other mercury containing devices.  The goal is to give out about 200 CFLs in two hours in the region of South Medford.

If you are interested in helping out either before hand or during the event, you can speak to Catherine Smith or contact the organizers directly:

    1. Update:
We will give out bulbs in the neighborhood immediately around the Columbus School, 37 Hicks Avenue, Medford. Collect your bags of bulbs in the school parking lot starting at 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 31 (Halloween). The event will run until 7:00 pm, but you can come for a shorter time. Kids are welcome, but need to bring along an adult.

We need to know how many people to prepare for, so let us know if you plan to join in the fun on Sunday! The more people, the more fun and the more success we will have. At least one reporter is planning to come take pix and run a story!
